The main reasons for using 304 Stainless Steel Flat Washers include –

These serrations bite into the bearing surface. The star washer is more effective when used with a soft substrate like aluminium or plastic. In fact, it tends to work effectively as a lock washer because it can resist rotation in comparison to a plain 304 stainless washer used on a hard surface.
